Near South Side/Printer’s Row

The area directly south of the Loop and Financial District is home to Printer’s Row and the South Loop, collectively the Near South Side. While small, Printer’s Row is popular for it’s converted lofts from old printing press buildings. The South Loop has seen more activity recently than many other neighborhoods located near the Chicago Loop. Given the more affordable nature of the neighborhood, there have been several high rise apartment and condo buildings hitting the market, some with incredible views of Lake Michigan and Grant Park. There are quite a few townhomes in the area too, mainly east of Michigan Avenue and south of Roosevelt Rd. But outside of real estate, the near south side is arguably the most cultured neighborhood in the city given the fact it houses many of the city’s most popular attractions such as The Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium, the Adler Planetarium, and the Art Institute of Chicago nearby to the north. It’s also home to the Chicago Bears, Northerly Island, and McCormick Place, making it a popular destination for visitors both for entertainment and business purposes.
